The German title of the new Witcher novel is a perfect example why translators have to be not only human but also highly trained. "Crossroad" does translate to "Keruzung" and not "Kreuzweg" which is something very different but somehow it slippped through all controls.

I really love independent journalism but I just can't afford to pay for 20 newsletters. I think that's one of the main things the decline of legacy media made worse for readers. We have to narrow our reading and perspective because of financial constraints.

When it comes to economy and economic history I truly try to not just read leftists but when you cite Charles fucking Murray in a positive way you have lost all good will and trust and when you use "cognitive ability" when you're talking education you're already half-way down racist town.

The fact I just submitted the first rating for Golgotha by @lavietidhar.bsky.social on Goodreads is both weird and depressing. The last time that happened it was an obscure academic publication but for a novel published by a pretty big publisher?
Oh yeah, it's a 5 star read for me.
