Half of the country are getting an essential fact about UK immigration wrong 'We are a gaslit nation.'

This is important.

And they’ll have also made friends? Which I assume cant be achieved anywhere else but school. Ignoring the fact that often lessons are taught by non-specialists or non-teachers entirely πŸ€”

Who would have thought it? The wealthy, the elite, the multi-millionaire MSM owners wanted us to believe otherwise? Didn’t see that coming

Reform councils β€˜save taxpayers Β£40m’ by scrapping net zero Party’s leaders say they have also cut more than Β£50m of wasteful costs in other areas during first 100 days in power

These 'savings' seem to involve not using solar power, not upgrading council buildings, not buying electric vehicles for council fleet

So not doing stuff that will mean higher future costs for the councils on fuel & heating bills

Utter foolishness

It seems Labour will do anything possible to damage their own chances of success, that the country desperately needs - firstly against a backdrop of the Tories and now against the looming threat of Reform. Unforced errors after unforced error πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

If I were Labour I’d spend less time briefing about a new party splitting the vote, and more time limiting the number of unforced errors within the ministerial ranks 🀭

Southern Water: hopes of change going down the drain Poor water rating. A second summer with an astonishingly high peak reading for E. coli. Are our chances of change going down the drain?

Jeremy Corbyn more popular among younger voters than Keir Starmer The leaders have a near identical approval rating among voters overall, but Corbyn is considerably more popular with voters aged 18-24

A shake up of democracy could liven things up

Public ownership is the only way to save the water industry Public ownership is the only viable alternative but is opposed by the government

England's water companies lose 1 trillion litres of water a year to leaks.

Dump sewage in rivers, have 1,135 criminal convictions

Built no new reservoirs since 1989. Paid Β£85bn in dividends, have debt of Β£70bn

One- third of the customer bills cover debt servicing.

Govt is OK with privatisation.

It’s totally unacceptable to expect consumers to cough up more cash to fund improvements. What an absolute shambles πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ we’re expecting change from Steve Reed, not ice creams by the sea

Environment secretary β€˜furious’ about England and Wales water bills Steve Reed says he is unable to rule out further above-inflation rises and any decision would be up to regulators

UK Minister β€˜furious’ about England & Wales water bills.

Ministers talking PR gimmicks.

Public ownership is necessary but ruled out.

Since 1989 shareholders extracted Β£85bn in dividends which should have been invested.

Nationalise without compensation.

Yes the increased info is certainly useful. SW have always boasted at not having released in Deal since 2021. I therefore find it very odd that they are now releasing this year every time it rains. Makes me think previous years’ data is not accurate (and make explain the deteriorating quality)

19.07.2025 06:39 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m fascinated at how this is a new issue for 2025: a storm passes through and there’s a release. This wasn’t the case in previous years. Or was it? And they weren’t honest about it?

This started way back with the way prospective candidates were selected. Nothing about this govt has been done correctly: selection, policy, comms, leadership.

So Keir Starmer's strategy on welfare cuts has essentially been to:

1) Fail to engage with Labour MPs before launching the policy
2) Ignore all warnings about a rebellion
3) U-Turn at the very last minute after the damage is done
4) Promise a new approach
5) Suspend the MPs anyway

Written questions and answers - Written questions, answers and statements - UK Parliament Information from UK Parliament on written questions & answers, written statements and daily reports.

I asked the Govt "how many criminal convictions have been secured by regulators against Southern Water since privatisation."

The Minister won't answer (see link below).

Between 1989 and 2024 SW had 119 convictions

Does the Minister not know or doesn't want to put the data on parliamentary record?

Everyone should have access to safe, affordable water.

But our privatised system puts profit first.

So I'm getting behind the People's Plan for Water.

If you're with me, add your name to the call for public ownership: actionnetwork.org/forms/water-...

This is excellent advice. Many MATs jump straight to punitive approaches when β€œissues” arise rather than properly problem solving. This is a much better approach πŸ‘Œ

It's completely insane. If introduced you'd have large numbers of families rendered destitute and local authorities would have to support them with no money available to do so.

Motion Motion to approve the draft Terrorism Act 2000 (Proscribed Organisations) (Amendment) Order 2025 - Yvette Cooper

This, to be considered by the House of Commons this afternoon, needs to cause as much political trouble for the government as the welfare bill. Ask your MP to stand up for the right to protest.

1. Starmer was warned and warned that his benefits cuts were not just cruel and unfair, but a political disaster. He dismissed the warnings, even this week, as no more than "noises off". Now, as the disaster materialises, he's desperately backtracking.
Here's an idea: how about listening? 🧡

If your criticism is that he will be busy at uni, fine. But all you’ve posted initially, without context is that he’s 18……

26.06.2025 05:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The post never says any of this, just mentions his age. You’ve added the context. It may well have been the intention to be a comment on competence etc, but it’s not in the post. Therefore criticising someone on their age is ageism
