Yesterday’s Budget announcement was a shameful missed opportunity for the government to secure the long-term and sustainable futures of Britain’s grassroots music venues.

For far too long, and at the cost of many much-loved independent venues, successive governments have failed to support the live music scene, the arts and community creative spaces.

Venues, artists and fans alike cannot afford to wait for the government to act on even the most basic or logical demands, such as a ticket levy on large arena and stadium concerts or tax relief for independent spaces.

We demand action now – the future of British music depends on it.

Households in Great Britain face surprise rise in energy bills from January Energy price cap for average dual fuel bill will increase to Β£1,758 a year, from Β£1,755 in the current quarter

Whilst the government continues to protect greedy energy companies, struggling customers continue to be squeezed for every single crumb of profit.

Whilst far-right agitators like Tommy Robinson applaud Labour's disgraceful rhetoric on asylum seekers, the rights of those fleeing war and persecution have never been at greater risk.

We need to build an alternative to the dehumanising establishment politics: yourparty.uk

It is clear to all that the Starmer government is more than willing to sacrifice the rights and protections of marginalised groups, such as refugees, in order to satisfy pressure from rabid forces on the far-right of British politics.

The banning of no-fault evictions is a welcome step towards bringing about justice for renters β€” but the government must go further to end the housing crisis.

The government must end exploitative landlordism and empower local councils to build more homes.
