With the rise of right-wing populism throughout Europe, it’s important that we stand up for what we believe in, empathy, decency, and tolerance, regardless of race, ethnicity, or colour. Today, I fulfilled my democratic duty and cast my vote for the German national election scheduled for Feb 23rd.

I understand the narrative, but listening to @talksportradio.bsky.social this morning, the focus is once again on how poor #MUFC played and completely ignoring what was a great performance yesterday from #NFFC. Mitigated slightly by Tony Cascarino downplaying our chances of a top six finish.

Liverpool's to lose? Is Premier League title race almost over? Only once has a Premier League team had a bigger lead than Liverpool's eight points after 12 games - so is the title race almost over?

This kind of hype does slightly annoy me. Just like every incident in every game is “huge” or “massive” right from the first game of every season #LFC have had a great start, but to ask if the title race is over after just 12 games is just plain daft.

I think any social media platform will invariably reflect society as a whole. It seems insulting, rude and offensive opinions are unfortunately prevalent in all forms of media.

Remember when anyone labels you as woke, what they are really saying is that “I can’t believe you are not as racist and as bigoted as I am”.

I prefer not to use or like to read profanity when using social media. I agree, remonstrating directly with those who use offensive language is not the way forward. We can choose to unfollow or ignore anything that offends. Personally I think there are other ways to express anger or disappointment.

Hurrah! Finally have left the Uni Klink Essen after 8 days. Back in the land of the living.

Why was the caller so angry about everything? This is exactly the problem with public discourse and discussion these days. Social media and traditional outlets promote sensationalism and encourage division, using slogans and labels to divide us and prevent us seeking common ground or compromise.

Don’t you see that you use the language and tone of those who you criticise? Should we not be respectful even to those who views we oppose, otherwise we occupy the same space in the so called sewer.

So sitting here in hospital in the Uni Klinik in Essen with Pancreatitis, as result of a recent Covid infection, something as a vulnerable cancer patient I have tried to avoided for 5 years. Folks #covid is not a cold.

Another good reason for being here and not over there.

I’m not surprised by this. In my experience, every single person we vote to represent us, will seek to use thier position for personal gain, above the interests of public service, country or more often than not, morality. It’s a sad face of human nature that having more is somehow never enough.

Sunak loves to quote “it’s what the British expect us to do” or “what the British people want”. This “will of the people” nonsense doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. If they are so sure about the correctness of their policies, they should call an election. The majority, I am convinced, think otherwise.

No matter what your political persuasion, surely we can all agree that Suella Braverman was eventually unfit to hold high office and we should be thankful that she has been removed. The talent pool to replace her is paper thin. The person might have been removed but the policies may remain.

And there you have it, racist, inflammatory language designed to sow division and hate. The assumption that many homeless on the streets are foreigners is offensive. One can only hope if and when this government loses it’s grip on power, a more traditional, kinder Conservative Party will emerge

My understanding was that if the referendum was legislated as binding, instead of advisory, the result could have been challenged, seeing as Vote Leave clearly broke campaign spending rules. Another mistake was not build a quorum clause into the final result.

Reminds me of the phrase “kicking somebody when they are down”. You have to wonder how somebody’s mind works when they push these kind of policies. But then again, it’s all calculated to appeal to a potential voter base that might elevate her to the party leadership after the next general election.

Sorry to hear your story and it’s sounds as if your Mum faced her illness with dignity and courage. My mother also died from Cancer, and have (so far) survived 2 separate Cancers myself. I shall be donating. I am actually aware that, as a survivor, others are not so lucky and deserve support.
