I feel like I always do this calculation in my head beforehand for real-world meetings. "Who is going to be there? How late are they usually? how late should I turn up so that I'm not waiting around on my own for ages?"

Many of these people join orgs like ICE looking for social status. If society is scared they're getting what they want, if society mocks and ridicules them they are getting the opposite. I'm sure "haha omg look at those weirdo government simps" hits harder to them then "You're an evil fascist".

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.

I'm veggie; the reason I never buy a "beyond burger" is that the supermarket own brand does a decent fake-meat veggie burger for half the price. Seems like a branding, price point and product differentiation problem, not a market problem. The cheap/off-brands have caught up and taken the demand.

Here on Bluesky I see lots of US people still saying "oh no isn't this awful" and much fewer actually organising resistance. From the outside it seems like huge scale general strikes are pretty much the only option left for you without full-scale civil war; and your time is rapidly running out.

General strike is pretty much your only way out without a civil war that kills millions. You need to get every single sane person left there refusing to go to work until the dictator is removed as soon as possible.
