I donβt think youβll have any problem exceeding that number! Unless you live in a skyscraper in central London

Moths, occasionally birds. Still a grumpy dad, still hoping to mellow with age
I donβt think youβll have any problem exceeding that number! Unless you live in a skyscraper in central London
05.12.2025 23:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think thatβs a pipe dream, Iβm not sure thatβs possible without a huge slice of luck and a few more migrants as well
05.12.2025 22:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0π
05.12.2025 22:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you Clive, I have to keep those upstarts in Staffs quiet π€«
05.12.2025 22:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I believe I have one on the way π€π»
05.12.2025 22:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm looking forward to seeing those. I havenβt got round to a 2026 wish list except Crimson Speckled, which will be top for a very long time π
05.12.2025 17:12 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Nice pictures Clare, sounds like I need more plants. Will you be doing a micro collage as well this year? π
05.12.2025 17:11 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Yeah a very good year with some real silly stuff thrown in as well. Hopefully next year is just as good, even if I donβt hit the same heights of newfers π€π»
05.12.2025 16:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Have a year off π€£
05.12.2025 16:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think that will be very hard, nearly everything I kind of thought should appear on the list, did! Iβll be more than happy with 30 NFG next year including mines, cases etc and then 800 in 2027.
05.12.2025 16:13 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0More moth stats for your enjoyment (or not). Having had a big clean up of the records and sorted out all the dissection and leaf mine data, we have final (probably) numbers for 2025. Year list of 632 species (no aggs) with 101 NFG. Garden list now 754 with Large Wainscot as number 750 #teammoth
05.12.2025 15:58 β π 41 π 0 π¬ 5 π 0Iβll be trying, the first traps in December as the weather has been rank up until then
05.12.2025 15:52 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There is suitable ground over the road, but not what youβd call a classic habitat by any means
05.12.2025 15:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Having a sort out and Iβve found 6 bottles of A acetate.
I didnβt use it this year so if anyone would like a bottle or two or three please give me a shout.

and anyone else who may be interested.
It appears itβs indeed due to the white marks on the wing, and is an old named coined by Moses Harris. I agree a better name, something like the White Kidney Moth is in order.
05.12.2025 14:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If I get time or the inclination, Iβm going to have a root around with the lure in the nearby area. I suspect the male I saw was local, and itβs almost completely absent from my part of Hants and nothing in the 10km except my record this year.
05.12.2025 14:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0More holidays needed π
05.12.2025 13:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well said Ruth, youβll need to start a Dot Moth appreciation society to stand up for its rights!
05.12.2025 13:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The male Iβve only seen fleetingly, flapped round the garden once then flapped off π€·π»ββοΈ
05.12.2025 13:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Worst was Cornwall of all places, weather was shocking and there were was hardly any moths
05.12.2025 12:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβd have bet money youβd got most of those moths on your travels
05.12.2025 12:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Much, and how could I forget that one? Well age has a lot to do with it I expect π
05.12.2025 12:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π
05.12.2025 11:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Reissued, much better!
05.12.2025 11:03 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 4 π 0And I missed the big bling, think Iβll reissue that one
05.12.2025 10:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Definitely, an important part of the car packing process. And I just realised I forgot Emperor Moth, Doh!! I might redo that one ππ
05.12.2025 10:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For those of you who donβt trap on holiday, youβre missing out on good moths and local rarities. All moths shown are lifers from mainland UK 2025. I nearly called this playing away from home, then I remembered the slang meaning! Moth trapping outside of the garden, is a much safer option π #teammoth
