Knowing those pesky moth gods it would be examining my 1000th species, so that I’d be forever stuck on 999 😖

I’ll have expired by then, no doubt sat behind a microscope 🤣
Only the CMR said 1000 was achievable 🤪

I thought I’d had the Phyllonorycter and Carrion Moth previously but it appears not. 2 Gelechiids and Coleophora left to go through, not the easiest to gen det. Steve Palmer has approved a couple of gen dets of mine so the total creeps up.

Sunday nights final count in SE Hants VC11 was 282/104 with 3 NFG and 4 retained for further work. Phyllonorycter platani (a very distinctively coloured Phyllonorycter), Monopis weaverella (the delightfully named Carrion Moth) and Acrocercops brongniardella. Not the best photos but ICBA #teammoth

No Garden Tigers yet this year, and I’ve just checked and I’ve never had a Zoe moth either! It’s an expected one but a no-show so far

I’ve got the unpotting bit sorted, it’s the remaining still on the moths side of the bargain that’s still vexing 😆

@sj84turner.bsky.social it was saxicola after gen det. Also amusingly the two Ear Moth agg I chose for Gen det were both Ear Moth and not Saltern, even though the majority on the site are taken to be the latter 🙄

It was a bit of a surprise getting 100sp. The micros just wouldn’t sit still, so are chilling for release tonight after their photoshoot and final identification 🙄

Not a bad trap. I was expecting an absolute potato of a trap after last week 🫣

Not yet, I think the sheltered location and mature woodland always helps my numbers

I think it’s inevitable, they’re becoming more common as migrant trap catch and I suspect there are local populations present as well

Prelim trap numbers of 265/100 in SE Hants VC11. Probable migrants 5 O. semirubella, 1 Small Mottled, 1 RDP, 4 A. tumidana, 2 Rush Veneer. NFY Lesser Treble-bar, Rosy Rustic. Lots of micros, 2+ possible NFG if they settle Acrocercops brongniardella and Monopis weaverella #teammoth #migrantmothuk
