Someone recently did a paper on trapping conditions, I think rain had less of an effect than wind and temperature but still lowered numbers. I trap in everything but heavy/torrential rain and that’s more about my discomfort

Some of my best holiday mothing was at the head of a valley in Wales. I wonder if there’s a funnelling effect?

I think Ruth is more diligent than most of us! Location is such a big factor, especially for a broader range of moths, but as you alluded to, garden planting can make a difference.
It’s surprising the difference in trap catches even when only a hundred yards apart.

That’s interesting. My head is saying Wogan, my gut is saying moths, especially as it feels mild and still.

I think the sacrifice of a good red may be in order. Even if the gods aren’t appeased you still get to drink a nice red 🤔🤣

We certainly had a belter of a trapping season last year.
