I wanted to give the game an honest shot but christ almighty, the only things I can genuinely praise about the game are “The manga panels are well-drawn”

I’m not even going to open the can of worms that is the terrible opening to the story.

And like… Genuinely it only looks like it got worse from there. Hell, half of the enemies in the following areas were almost *entirely* unanimated. They just… rotated the sprites to pretend there was anything going on

They managed to fuck up every single “gamefeel” aspect possible: Extremely clunky hitboxes, horrible telegraphing, lackluster level design, unbelievable inconsistency just all around… how were people saying this game is a 10/10??? I dropped the game after the first major boss-

Watching a friend play nine sols and like… man I’m gonna be so real. The game looks like it controls like actual dogshit. It looks like they poured all of their money into the art and assets and forgot to make a good game out of it. I don’t think its unsalvageable but jesus christ man-

Yeah… streaming especially is a hard niche to break into. Since you do kinda *need* to work on being entertaining throughout the whole thing, even if there isn’t really anything in particular to talk about (or anyone to talk to)

And gonna reiterate this because *I* didn’t understand gesture drawing for years: You are scribbling. You aren’t trying to make a “good” drawing. Try to capture the essence of the pose by scribbling

-making “bad” art. It switches the mindset from “Oh this is bad. I guess it wasn’t a good idea.” to “Oh this is bad. Let me try again with something a little different”

-important stuff. Focus on the *movement* of poses; proper anatomy comes second.

Just as an example: here are 8 of my poses that I drew yesterday. There are 112 more that I don’t think look good enough to share, but again, that’s one of the points of gesture drawing. It gets you used to-

Probably my favorite website for this stuff. I recommend doing figure drawing and limit yourself to 30 seconds each.

To put it bluntly, your first few are going to look like *shit* but that’s kinda the point. Limiting yourself to the 30 seconds makes you focus on the most-

It also helps a lot with the“I should be drawing” feeling while being relatively mindless (and significantly less frustrating)

Genuinely try practicing some fundamentals. I started doing daily practice about three weeks ago now and it really helped me be less harsh on myself. Gesture drawings especially help with learning faster iteration and makes “doing the wrong pose” feel less like a failure and more like a step
