Dear everybody who is routinely writing "I hope you're well" in emails, nope, I'm not and don't know when I will be again. It is what it is. I'm not mad. But switch up the language, if only to entertain me!

Then there are the fabulous friends of friends who you've always wanted to meet. Put them where you can talk to them a lot. But you can only handle a few without spreading yourself too thin. Who are the right guests for this specific event?

Rather than writing blah lit review, it might be useful to think of those you cite as guests invited to a wedding. You know, EVERYBODY knows that old uncle Bob is gross. You could invite him and stick him in the corner. Or you could not invite him. But do not seat him at the main table.

Getting some of my editorial mojo back. NOTE: citing relevant literature is not the same thing as laying out a compelling argument or posing a provocation to the discipline.
