I don't mind them working, but there should be strict guidelines about what sort of work they do if they are to continue to receive special perks. Tony Abbott sitting on another country's trade board whilst receiving ex PM perks from the Australian taxpayer is particularly galling.

Ex parliamentarians who go on to work for companies or other countries against the Australian national interest should be disqualified from any special pensions. E.g. Tony Abbott working for the UK government.

We just want codes to access a nursing home for her now. Apparently, being 90 with Alzheimer's isn't urgent enough for a speedy assessment. We don't really want to go to an ED, but it may come to that.

Meanwhile, we are still waiting for my mothers-in-law to be assessed, over 12 months now. The advice I received was to take her to an Emergency Department in a public hospital where they will organise an ACAT. The fix to a broken aged care system is to put more stress on public health. Crazy times.

Penny Wong has responded diplomatically to a hypothetical question over something she has no control over. I am really upset that Australia is sending weapons to Israel, and that is something that her government absolutely can control.

She's doing her job and being diplomatic. There's plenty to be annoyed about with this government, but this isn't worth getting annoyed over.

Would picture books do? I used to borrow heaps of those when my kids were young. My son was asthmatic, and we spent many hours reading while he was on his nebuliser. Libraries have loads of excellent picture books for toddlers and slightly older kids.
