I saw Billy Joel open for The Beach Boys in the Vanderbilt University gym in December 1973, all by himself at a piano. None of us had ever heard of him, but we knew this wasn’t some random opening act.

I’m in shake shack wearing my Chris + Cosey shirt and they’re playing good vibrations by The Beach Boys and something Psychic TV covered really well actually. And there’s probably like 5 people in the world who would have been amused by this or who will even understand.
