Suppression order lifted on High Country killer's past police run-ins Victoria's Supreme Court lifts a suppression order that prohibited reporting on convicted murderer Greg Lynn's past interactions with police and the death of his first wife.

police took out a five year intervention order after Lynne used a sledgehammer to break into Lisaโ€™s house. After she was found dead, police accepted Lynnโ€™s claim that his death threats were โ€œnot seriousโ€ and decided they found no โ€œsuspicious circumstancesโ€.

More importantly why arenโ€™t people nicer to each other?

New Zealand had a wonderful scheme to stop young people taking up smoking. Of course their new government ditched it. There's no reason for Australia not to implement the same kind of policy ... except that our gov is owned by its sponsors.

28.11.2025 10:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 10    ๐Ÿ” 4    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Indeed. The same "small government" and "no nanny state" people need to put their money where their mouth is.

If adults want to start smoking, let them.

The problem is that people start as children.

Prohibitively expensive tax will increase this risk, as you say, due to the growing black market.

Actually theyโ€™re kind of your assumptions that people have responded toโ€ฆbut hey, you do you.

Yes and when they reshape the tax base they need to lower the taxes on tobacco. Theyโ€™ve gone too far and spawned a massive illegal trade.

Medicare funded quit aids for the poor and a massive tax hike for the rich is what's needed.

So if you break your leg playing footy, or falling off a mountain, or skiing down it: no help for you, eh? ๐Ÿค”

To the contrary, we should develop a society where people are respected, have the social services they need, have an affordable roof over their head, access to free education at all levels and universally free healthcare. If they don't, we all suffer the consequences.

28.11.2025 09:02 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 5    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Totally they should. They can start by paying tax.

Also Iโ€™d assume by your own logic that the billionaires of this world should be paying for every billion dollar fuck up they do that costs the rest of us moneyโ€ฆor our children their future.

So you donโ€™t believe in helping people who are addicted to anything? Because itโ€™s their fault?

Even though itโ€™s so not their fault, but the fault of society that wants to blame them for the addiction their society made them a part of. Cool.

28.11.2025 08:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Many people get sick for no reason having never drunk alcohol or smoked cigarettes. Why do so many people feel the need to find blame in other peopleโ€™s health issues?

28.11.2025 08:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 8    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

People buyingโ€illegal tobaccoโ€ do so bc theyโ€™re addicted to something legalโ€ฆeven though all the rich people can drink their Chivas Regal or actual Champagne or get coked up all weekend or whatever.

Seriously, stop penalising poor people whilst letting rich people get away with whatever they want.

And in almost 30 years of public life, in parliament, she has failed to reflect and learn, appreciate the privilege she has and make positive contributions to society. Her reaction to the suspension was atrocious and if she holds such contempt for the place, she should resign.
