Covid-19 has caused a breakdown in human rationality. Most people have embraced a mentality of delusion, carelessly denying the extreme danger of Covid-19 and recklessly surrendering to repeated infections. As a result, irreparable harm is steadily destroying their essential well-being.

I first read this line when I was 14. I was in an unhappy family and knew plenty of others. They all looked the same to me. Violent, abusive (or absent) father, woman and children struggling to survive.
I still wonder if happy families are all alike. I suspect not.

I’ve been wondering (of myself mostly) why it is so much harder to identify and witness someone else’s happiness rather than their struggles?

They defend a very wide area around their nests too. And it seems that even adolescents who are too young to nest “practice” defending as well.
I’ve never been hit, but they come close and it’s intimidating. Especially for the international students!

My uni has a bushland campus. Every Spring people would be late to classes because they were hiding from magpies.

This state could be amazing. Instead they just want to be different to “the mainland” at any cost. And that means we stay at least 50 years behind.

I think it means that during lockdowns children missed school time.
But due to long Covid and ongoing illnesses, school attendance is down in almost every country so “learning” is being lost because they didn’t address Covid.
So stupid and short sighted and all in the service of capitalism.

What if we had tools to combat poverty and learning loss? Tools like, I don’t know, an effective government? Basic universal income (proven to SAVE money everywhere it’s been used). Properly funded online learning to protect kids and teachers.
Governments could do these things. They did do them!
