Friend asked me to describe panic. It's the moment when you speed up to get through a yellow light and the guy in front of you chickens out. It's the moment when the chair is hits the edge of tipping over and you scramble to right yourself. It's a parent hearing silence from the kid's room.

I was born in summer '72 just after Superbowl VI. In all, the Superbowls since then, not one single halftime show was decided by vote, petition, outrage, or politics. Not one, but every year, without fail, some group somewhere thinks the NFL is a democracy. The stupid is painful.

I don't think I have ever put as much energy into anything as the average MAGAt puts into declaring their boycott of the Superbowl.

Pepper balls hurt and act as pepper spray. They're not very accurate, so you'll probably get hit during a spray-n-pray barrage. Wear long sleeves, hat, gloves, and jeans. Guys, wear an athletic cup. Get a gas mask with eye protection (pic). Be prepared, be safe, help others.

When it happens - and it WILL happen - it will be quick. Much faster than you can react. It takes hours/days/weeks to set up dominoes that fall in seconds. All you can do is be prepared and hope to survive it, but it's coming.

I'm old enough to remember the Iran hostage crisis. A deal was brokered by President Carter, but the Iranian government agreed to not release the hostages until after the election to ensure Reagan got the credit.
