I see, i don't think that'll work with hermit scripts - and hermit itself doesn't work on Nix as well. I believe this is because the way hermit works is in contrast to how nix works. I'll need to dig deeper. Thanks for your pointers!

I do, for my own scripts, but others don't. If it's just one script I don't mind just changing it, but in the case of tools like hermit (github.com/cashapp/hermit) the scripts are auto-generated and inside every repository.
