the need for the inclusion of the graphic is a sad reminder of the shockingly low literacy rate among geese

Been looking at this ahead of something else I've been working on being published later this week.

The divergence in reported Yes support between different, long-established pollsters is striking...

Scotland generates record amount of renewable energy

Scotland generates record amount of renewable energy

Scotland is energy rich.

Renewables generated a record amount of electricity in 2024 - up 13% from 2023.

And Scotland generates more electricity than it needs, exporting over Β£1.5bn worth last year.

Here's a sneak peek at something I've been working on for a while: a cohort analysis of support for Scottish secession, seeking to offer (early) evidence on whether voters grow more unionist as they age.

The answer (thus far) is no.

Excellent news everyone, a quick browse of Bluesky suggests being angry that poor refereeing has cost your team a game is allowed again this week. Must've just been a blip 2 weeks ago when it wasn't

Unbelievable. Donald Trump has been invited to a state visit to the UK. We should not be rolling out the red carpet to celebrate this man. Agree? Add your name to the petition today: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no...

Hard stats: New research from Cavendish Consulting β€” shared with Influence β€” suggests that relationship has likely contributed to Reform MPs securing a massively outsize presence on X since the election and helped them dominate the online narrative.

Stats rundown: The data show British MPs posted a total of 217,290 times on X from election day until Jan. 28 this year. Those posts earned a total of 100,483,183 engagements.

But but but: Despite posting just 7,744 times, Reform’s MPs have secured nearly 50 million of those impressions alone.

That’s punchy: To put it simply, content from Reform MPs equates to about 3.5 percent of the total number of posts sent by Westminster parliamentarians. But it accounts for nearly half of all engagement with British MP content on the platform. In other words, Reform really does have an outsize reach. Each Reform post garners on average 6,300 engagements, compared to just 500 for most other MPs.

But but but: That huge exposure isn’t the only benefit, because Musk has recently handed the ability for premium users β€” who meet certain requirements β€” to monetize their accounts and get paid for their posts.

Quick math: A scour through the MP’s register of interests reveals that the Reform lads have banked almost Β£20,000 from X since the election, with political novice β€” and Musk enthusiast β€” Rupert Lowe trousering nearly Β£8,000 from his posts, followed by Farage on around Β£5,500.

Here's what Elon Musk doesn't want you to know about how X is already interfering in UK politics.
