Pretty clear signal on my Raspishake seismometer which is about 8600 km away in Herne, Germany. The seismometer just sits on Top of my kitchen. βοΈ

A M6.3 and M6.1 #earthquake occurred last night at 2024-12-09 00:15:31 and 00:38:53 (UTC) at the Aleutian Trench (the trench that connects Alaska, USA to Kamchatka, Russia).
Both earthquakes can be seen in the middle waveform and form part of a larger earthquake swarm happening in the region.
And another in the same area of the #AleutianIslands #Alaska

Hereβs the filtered seismogram from my Raspberry Shake. Iβve had running 24/7 for 7(?) years now. Its awesome.

The UK now has more citizen science raspberryshake seismic stations than professional ones. Some detect surprisingly good signals from 8000km away, even with sub-optimal sites tgey see big events. R94C3 is in my garden office (aka the shed) and detected P waves from todays California earthquake βοΈ

π In this study, we present new 3D models based on GRAIL gravity data, revealing a vast network of magmatic structures beneath Oceanus Procellarum. These findings provide fresh insights into the Moon's magmatic evolution and the critical role of lateral magma transport pathways. π
