The first American autism diagnosis was in 1943, and autism as an independent diagnosis was added to the DSM in 1980. Having a diagnosis available leads to, surprise, an increase in the diagnosis being used.

This account is dedicated to uplifting other members of the neurodivergent community! We are a newly established advocacy group that focuses special attention toward women and children in the neurodivergent community, but we are here for ALL neurodivergent folks!!

This was my mistake. I am part of the autistic community, and I will own my mistakes and miscommunications as they come up. PLEASE do not hesitate to tell me if the masses do or don't like something <3

I feel it's necessary to bring up the incorrect language that was used in the initial repost. I incorrectly used the phrase "people with autism", as I did not know that other members of the community did not like it and see that verbiage as a red flag.

Yes! I totally understand that (as someone who struggles very intensely with RSD) and sometimes that cycle can be incredibly difficult to climb out of, but having a support system in place is hugely impactful! Which not every autistic individual is able to achieve, unfortunately :(

Yes!!! ALL autistic people deserve support and resources!!! Even those without an official diagnosis :) Supporting those who are vulnerable or in need can uplift the entire community!

Research shows that only ~15% of people with autism are full-time employees. This does not include undiagnosed individuals (an estimated 1% of the world's population is diagnosed with ASD).

We are burnt-out! We are tired!

Q: What is one resource that would have improved your childhood experience? A: "Education. If the people around me were more educated on autism, they may have been able to see signs and get the support I needed. Or at least have some level of understanding of what I was going through, rather than shame me for struggling."

Q: How is your work relevant to AFAB/women and children with autism? A: "I used to work in ABA as an RBT. I now help all families and children. A few of my clients have children with developmental disabilities."

Q: Describe your experience with autism if any. A: "Always felt like an alien or a ghost. Struggle with connecting with others and building relationships. A lot of shame, guilt, and resentment of myself for not "being normal" and struggling to regulate and function how most others seem to."

Q: Describe your experience with womanhood if any. A: "[My experience] sucks. Been treated like an object, like the only thing of value I have to offer is my body. Like I'm incapable of doing certain things because of my sex and stature."
