Kidical Mass is run by informal local groups with no significant funding or charitable status. This insurance enables us to do grassroots cycling advocacy in a way which is difficult for the usual cycling opponents to attack. Please contribute so we can continue!

What a fabulous day yesterday! Around 220 people came out for the Cycle Sheffield Big Ride and Kidical Mass. Everyone had fun, and hopefully we've spread the message a little further that people want safe cycling infrastructure in Sheffield.

Christmas Kidical Mass in Sheffield is CANCELLED

Today's Christmas Kidical Mass ride in Sheffield is CANCELLED

We have made the sad but sensible decision to cancel today's ride. With the yellow weather warning in force, we cannot justify continuing. We had hoped it might improve overnight, but Storm Darragh seems to be hanging around a bit longer

The forecast weather warnings keep changing, so we have decided not to cancel tomorrow's ride yet. We'll wait and see what the situation is on Sunday morning and make a decision by 8.30am.

Because we care... we've swept up a LOT of leaves from this cycle lane that we'll be using on Sunday.

We're not sure if clearing leaves (a slip hazard) is part of the Streets Ahead roads maintenance contract, but if it isn't then it should be.

Of course the journey to school is more than just the last 100 metres to the school gates. And that's why we want all our streets to be (re)designed to prioritise safety for people walking and wheeling.

It is also very gratifying to see that the ATE guidance on assessing locations for suitability absolutely mirrors the decision tree we put out with @mumsforlungs.bsky.social and Active Travel Academy ❤️

Sheffield is rolling out more School Streets, and we hope that this guidance will help with implementing more.
