Meditate today, even for just five minutes.

Every moment of being in your body is a moment of remembering that you’re a human. And that’s a very good thing to be.

A lot of people who’ve posted that β€œI don’t know how to explain that you should care about other people” quote need to know that they should care about other people. I want my tax dollars to go to paying for insulin for the most vile MAGA asshole you ever heard of; that’s part of β€œeveryone”.

Letter from Charles M Schulz to a young Joel Lipton in 1970: β€œDear Joel, I think it is more difficult these days to define what makes a good citizen then it has ever been before. Certainly all any of us can do is follow our own conscience and retain faith in our democracy. Sometimes it is the very people who cry out the loudest in favor of getting back to what they call β€˜American Virtues’ who lack this faith in our country. I believe that our greatest strength lies always in the protection of our smallest minorities. Sincerely yours, Charles M. Schulz.”

It’s hard to ignore these concerns, and we shouldn’t. But plenty of great wine is still available, and that should remind us of an important point: good wine makes many people happy. It’s a rare pleasure, and it’s even more satisfying the less you spend.

Didn't realize that the NYT's wine critic is defensive about drinking even in his regular wine reviews! In a longer piece about how people shouldn't quit drinking wine, on account of its magical power to elevate and enlighten, he noted that he drinks 2-3 glasses every day. Seems like a him problem?

Warming centers in Maine Communities across Maine offer warming spaces throughout the winter for those who don't have consistent access to shelter.

Here are places all across the state where those without access to consistent shelter can warm up.

Along the way, he nearly murdered a bunch of children.
