While I think people want to be heard, they pick the wrong places to say things if they expect an answer/response.

Yelling in an online forum not associated with the target of their ire is shouting into the wind.

"But", I hear you say, "bluesky! Surely I'm being heard on bluesy!"

Are you? 👀

Why do people in comments in online articles/ posts think the subject of the article will read the comments and respond?

e.g: If I read an online article about Apple and yell at Apple in the comments, I don't expect Apple to care what I said. They don't monitor random comment forums. They don't 🤷‍♀️

Well. That’s embarrassing. I do have an English Lit degree, from the late 80s and have read 10% of these. And I must have read thousands of books by that point. I read other things like science fiction & fantasy. Obviously my taste in literature is very different than the GG writers. Oh well.

Democrats had to choose:

Let children starve (no SNAP) or let people die because they can't afford health insurance (ACA)

Only Democrats seem to care about starving children. Trump & the GOP might not have budged on either.

But that doesn't mean the Democrats in Congress shouldn't have tried.

Distraction or desperate bid for relevance? Or both?

FIFA (The people running the World Cup) say they're going to create a "Peace Prize" and give it to Trump?

A corrupt organization trying to appease Trump before next year's World Cup? Did they beat the IOC to it?

Okay. I've seen a couple comparisons now. It's cheaper because cheaper food, more pre-processed things. And less things.

Examples: Walmart - instant stuffing "mix" instead of ingredients. Cheaper lower quality turkeys. No pecan pie!

So, 8 Democratic Senators chickened out and voted to end the shutdown? Giving the GOP the votes they need? (Still has to be approved by the House and Trump so not a done deal yet but likely)

Based on future promises that we know the GOP/Trump won't honor?

I was going to say something about Trump bragging about Walmart's reduced cost for a Thanksgiving "dinner" (Fewer and cheaper items etc.) but a whole bunch beat me to it.

I would like to see a comparison between the different stores and their different cost for Thanksgiving meals for a family.

For an extra special time, add ‘tire with slow leak after hitting a pothole last spring’ - somehow leaked faster with colder temps & needed air every week by the time it was finally replaced last week.

Apparently, politics are no longer in vogue at Teen Vogue.

In other words, the Teen Vogue publisher killed Teen Vogue, firing most of the staff (reporters, columnists, editors), and stripping it for parts. A couple people/parts ended up at regular Vogue. But its political reporting for teens? Dead!

Watched the livestream of Rocket Labs launching a satellite (I think it was Japanese) this afternoon. From New Zealand.

After so many SpaceX and ULA launches, and even the ISRO rocket launch... it seemed like such a tiny rocket. Which it was actually. They do small stuff.

In my neck of the woods... it's just local stuff. I did 'Early Voting' last week to avoid the 'crowds' 😁

I got to pick a City Councilman (old guy vs young guy) and voted on a sales tax increase. We'll see how it went tonight. At least the ads/texts will stop!

Watched an ISROn (India) rocket launch this morning. Not a huge rocket but the excitement was. All the local schools must have taken 5e day off to go watch.

Nice to see there are still non-rocket nerds being excited about rocket launches.

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) died in 2024. It had a good run. The website finally died this past summer.

But that doesn't mean people can't attempt to write a short novel (50K words, or more) for November.

But how will you know if you've "won"?
