Reform UK manifesto:
“We used to send £350m a week to Brussels.
Let’s send it to the Taliban instead.”
Once again, magical thinking when it comes to Northern Ireland and international relations. But it doesn’t mean they won’t try.
26.08.2025 18:21 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Quite recently to take these returnees. Not exactly patriotic. But that’s populism. Just because it won’t work - or work as planned - doesn’t mean it won’t be tried. A key error of late is not taking populists at their word. Don’t expect the outcome they propose: but expect the policy to be tried.
26.08.2025 18:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The Farage plan on immigration has a lot of wildness in it. Not least the perverse incentives it creates for states to allow irregular migration to the UK in the first place, then get paid for returns. Add to that the potential indignity of paying those who slaughtered British soldiers

Speaking of idiots, Conor McGregor still doesn’t seem to realise that the endorsement of every far-right loon nearabouts isn’t going to get him any closer to the Irish Presidency.
