What always surprises me is how strict and paternalistic their proposed solutions tend to be. They suggest things like mandatory lecture attendance, penalty fees, or grading on a curve – measures we ourselves were never allowed to implement.

Yesterday the Trump Administration abruptly pulled the plug on these grants, cutting off $400 million in carefully planned state activities in termination letters. It is a tragic waste of the ingenuity of dedicated state, federal and vendor staff -- and it means workers will more likely fall through the crack in the safety net the next time the job market tanks and workers need aid. PS--I am not taking it down and we are not giving up on unemployed workers.
