Triangulene dimers linked by one or two para-biphenyl units were synthesized on Au(111). STM, non-contact AFM, and scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements reveal an open-shell singlet magnetic exchange coupling for Dimer 1 (ES-T=15β mV), influenced by the dihedral angles of the two para-biphenyl units. Dimers 2β² with an ES-T=6.6β mV were obtained from a more flexible precursor equipped with one para-biphenyl linker.
