I was tracking the earthquakes that were occurring from Ontario California that started at 1:02 AM and 1:14 AM, and then larger quake shifted 2:00 AM in Lytle Creek, California. So far there hasn’t been any other seismic events since then. I am watching it closely though.

Dr. Lucy Jones, I think the quake that occurred in Myanmar and Thailand on a strike-slip fault is a mirror of the San Andreas Fault which is capable of doing so. Are you going to the Thailand region to identify and study this fault a little bit more to see in correlation with our fault here in CA.

Does the same thing go with the constant small quakes in the San Bernardino region that started this thread because there was a magnitude 2.7 either on or near the San Andreas Fault last night.

I appreciate you Dr. Lucy Jones! Malibu fault has been quite active since last year on February 9, 2024 magnitude 4.3 and a second quake of a magnitude 4.7 on September 12, 2024, and now Valentine’s Day 2025. Has a probability increased for at least another magnitude 4 of five next few weeks?

So with the recent earthquake last night of a magnitude 3.6 do you think there’s a slight possibility that something larger will occur in the next few days?

It's essentially impossible to definitively assign a small quake (with fault area ~100m) at 8 km depth to a fault we map at the surface. But these look like they could be on the San Andreas itself which is relatively rare. The focal mechanisms align with the fault orientation
