Reader, it’s not great, nor is it fun, especially when I have things to do, which is basically always

I have type 2 narcolepsy which means both that I can fall asleep anywhere and also that I’m never really rested bc I don’t “earn” the sleep, I just crash into a dream cycle and my body freaks out the whole time! It’s really great and fun!

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Reminder that I AM LATINA AND PROUD. I am the product of immigration - my grandmother was undocumented and entered the country from Mexico as a baby. My mother was a fierce, gorgeous Latina woman of Mexican and Spanish descent.

....I explained to Mayday that I was a cranky high schooler in part bc the day before orientation the boy who is now her dad moved to New Jersey and that happened because his dad, her grampy, had lost his job, which was a direct result of 9/11 ("what's 9/11?" "Why did that happen?")

And because she's a classic "why" kid, she kept asking why questions, and I had to follow the trail: I *met* one of my now best friends the first day of gym class where we formed an alliance of "not gonna do that" and only passed bc our gym teacher never wanted to see us again...

*accidentally in that the conversation started when I picked her up early from school for a therapy appointment, and I nabbed her right before gym, and when I said "you're welcome" she said "what, why? I like Gym" and I was like oh boy did I hate gym in high school.
