1) Yes, and the reason power plants are against solar it’s because it would make energy too cheap and cut into their profits. But if your read the article, there is a section addressing that specific issue.

The *only* way to transition away from fossils is by completely replace them with another source of energy.
At this point... either we move towards a "Modular Reverse Dyson", or we move towards burning even MORE fossil fuels to meet the rising energy needs.

We cannot budget our way out of poverty. The solution is not to stop eating avocado toast or buying lattes, the solution is to increase salaries to meet the cost of living.
It’s the same thing for energy. The solution is not to spend less energy, is to produce more.

Wind and solar alone cannot generate the 24/7 energy needed to support the growing power demand brought on by data centres and AI.

Yes we *SHOULD* consume less... but that's not where the smart money is. The only thing more "phantasy" than trying to increase our energy supply is believing that we will ever lower our energy demands. Our energy use is *only* going up, and if it's not more solar... then it's even MORE fossils!
