Monopoly utility spending on the poles and wires that bring them guaranteed profits went up 300% over the past 20 years. Even though peak electricity demand was flat. Because of rooftop solar, the utilities could have REDUCED spending, and reduced rates for all of us.

The CPUC should stop rubber-stamping PG&E's spending and start promoting a more cost effective way to power our communities through conservation, efficiency, and rooftop solar.

PG&E is pushing to increase rates by 8% next year and then 6% every year to 2030. Thatโs $1.2 billion in new spending in 2027 alone! And they get some of the highest guaranteed profits in the country on top of it.
