If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.

Racial Resentment Among White Americans by Birth Year and Demographics

This figure presents the same four-panel layout (education, gender, geography, religion) but for White Americans from birth years 1940 to 2000.

Education panel: A pronounced divide shows non-college Whites with substantially higher resentment across all cohorts, increasing sharply for older birth years. College-educated Whites rise more modestly but remain distinctly lower, especially among younger cohorts.

Gender panel: Male and female trendlines rise together, with women slightly higher in mid-century cohorts. Younger cohorts of both genders start lower and climb with age.

Geography panel: Regional lines separate clearly: the South is highest in resentment, followed by the Midwest. The West and Northeast show lower levels, with the Northeast consistently at the bottom. All regions slope upward toward older cohorts.

Religion panel: Protestants show the highest resentment, peaking among mid-century cohorts. Catholics sit in the middle. Non-affiliated Whites show the lowest resentment, especially among younger respondents, with a small rise among mid-century generations.

The figure notes CES 2024 data with GAM-smoothed trendlines.

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧡

Sixty-five years ago today, four first-graders desegregated New Orleans's public schools: Ruby Bridges at William Frantz Elementary School, and Leona Tate, Tessie Provost, and Gail Etienne at McDonogh 19 Elementary School. They faced violent mobs and threats to their lives. They were 6 years old. πŸ—ƒ

That makes perfect sense to me. French strategy in 1939 was greatly informed by their shortage of fighting-age men; Vietnam was not that much later, and Algeria would have been fought by the grandsons of those men who died in the chalk or clay of northeastern France.

Upon reflection, I appreciate the Pats’ uniforms, but I don’t like them; they’re just too dull. They need to be more - I mean, it’s football - they need to be more aggressive. They’re just gray.

Part of what makes multi-member districts so interesting is that we’d only need to get a law passed to make them happen

NYT had details of Trump's engagement with Jeffrey Epstein's child sex trafficking and *hid it for him*, at the same time it was crucifying Clinton as untrustworthy due to her document retention & security.

Either the Democrat party is responsible for the shutdown, and therefore can basically take nothing to reopen - in which case every Democrat Senator should resign; or they’ve let history’s most powerless and dumb Quislings run the show - in which case every Democrat Senator should resign.
