No we don’t. By percentage, we pay exactly the same on both property tax and sales tax.

And keep in mind, companies (owned by the rich) benefit from their workers being subsidized by government programs like SNAP and Medicaid. Otherwise low income earners literally couldn’t exist.

If that’s true, that’s still double that of today’s 22%. I’d be okay with a 45% effectively rate. That’s a huge improvement that could fund better, more affordable lives for us all.

Also, the rich (and all of us really) grow our own wealth, not the economy. It’s not altruism.

I get the sentiment, but I think we need to be careful with this logic. Like I voted for Obama, but that doesn't mean I wanted to increase drone strikes across the world. But most of these voters support all of Trump's actions or excuse them. They'll criticize nothing. That to me is complicity.

It's bad over there. I try to just follow writers, but it seems like many of them on X are posting hardcore rightwing politics a lot of the time, not about writing. Like talking about killing people they disagree with. And the degree to which that was treated as normal...it legit shook me up. 😥
