And the media mostly just takes it as fact. Where are the media voices screaming that Ceasefire means ceasing to fire? I feel like Iโm going crazy. We saw this last February too.

29.10.2025 13:12 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Interesting thread. I donโt know the right answer, but I guess there is a lot to consider. I think Iโll just stay true to my intent and see how people take it.
That said, itโs wild to see people twist things (like SW or LotR) so far against the authorsโ pretty obvious intents.
No we donโt. By percentage, we pay exactly the same on both property tax and sales tax.
And keep in mind, companies (owned by the rich) benefit from their workers being subsidized by government programs like SNAP and Medicaid. Otherwise low income earners literally couldnโt exist.
If thatโs true, thatโs still double that of todayโs 22%. Iโd be okay with a 45% effectively rate. Thatโs a huge improvement that could fund better, more affordable lives for us all.
Also, the rich (and all of us really) grow our own wealth, not the economy. Itโs not altruism.
Right???!!! But also I think it illustrates the double standards of how โscandalsโ are written up in the media. Itโs like Obamaโs tan suit. Thatโs a scandal? But weโre all just supposed to ignore Cuomoโs past???
28.10.2025 19:38 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I agree with you, but I do want to call out the brave folks who fly Hurricane Hunter airplanes into the storms in order to obtain the data that fuels forecasting. Theyโre amazing and they were in this storm a bunch of times.
28.10.2025 19:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah. Itโs a lovely trait of big corps. ๐ฎโ๐จ
28.10.2025 19:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 022%. Iโd be all for increasing that quite a bit.
For sure manufacturing was a part of it. No disagreement. But why do you think taxes paid no role? Because tax rates stayed at that rate til the mid-60s.
Iโve built factories. Takes about 2-3 years now. With permitting. The war ended in 45.
Iโve also seen businesses list products on Amazon only to see AmazonBasics magically start selling very similar things. And of course those get listed waaaay higher on the search resultsโฆ๐ฉ
28.10.2025 19:13 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0What percent of their earnings are the top 10% paying in tax?
Maximum federal rate is 37%. Waaaaaay down from 91% after WWII when this country saw a huge growth in the middle class.
Is 37% max a fair share? Even before we account for massive loopholes? My vote is not remotely close to fair.
100%. But even if it was about people who donโt work, shouldnโt our basic human compassion include making sure people have enough to eat regardless of anything else?

22.10.2025 12:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I get the sentiment, but I think we need to be careful with this logic. Like I voted for Obama, but that doesn't mean I wanted to increase drone strikes across the world. But most of these voters support all of Trump's actions or excuse them. They'll criticize nothing. That to me is complicity.
22.10.2025 02:37 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's bad over there. I try to just follow writers, but it seems like many of them on X are posting hardcore rightwing politics a lot of the time, not about writing. Like talking about killing people they disagree with. And the degree to which that was treated as normal...it legit shook me up. ๐ฅ
