Steam sales are the closest thing left(if you happen to have a PC), but for console-only people(which includes most kids), you really can't just go pick out a sub $10 game, take it home, and experience something that could be the best, or worst, thing you have ever played.

Yeah. I feel like I really fell in love with gaming going to Gamestop with my dad, and picking a GBA game out of the bargain case to play on the way home, and I just don't see that happening anymore. My favorite game from that, Car Battler Joe, went from $7 to nearly $200.
