Old digital paint for a school project, made a game case for Outer Era. Real early foray into logo work, utilized some photos I took as well for color matching and the background. This one's called the Summus

Hate the argument of "Well you can boycott for now, but soon every game studio is going to use genAI and you won't be able to tell or avoid it anymore!!"

dude there are already more videogames in existence than I'm ever going to be able to play in my lifetime. this boycott shit is easy.

Fundamental to the setting, central, is that being powerful is not the same as being deserving. The Emperor of Mankind was the most powerful, special human being in history. He was an immortal who bore witness to all of human history, a man who stood on the threshold of divinity, who stole thunder from the Gods in a bid to destroy them. He was the greatest warrior, scientist, psychic, general, and king in history. Mortal men could not bear to look at him directly. And yet, he was also a small-minded, hypocritical, myopic, egotistical fascist, incapable of understanding even very simple things about the people he decided he was fit to rule, whose catastrophic mistakes turned the already teetering, already horrifying project that was his Empire into a ten-thousand-year long exercise in never-ending suffering which fuels the very thing it was supposed to be a bulwark against. He never met a problem he wouldn’t immediately make a themed death squad about. He argued theology like a petulant child. He systematically drove away literally every single person who ever worked directly with him except Malcador, the most patient man in history. One of the most important events in the setting was his metaphorical wife leaving him and taking the kids under the entirely accurate belief that he would be a terrible father. Almost half his sons jumped on board the plan to overthrow him.

oath of the moment, the space marine fan ttrpg by my friend erika, is not one i will play very often because i don't like space marines, but it has this such clear sighted grasp of why, even after all the crap, 40k remains fascinating to me
