Also, tools are helpful for this kind of thing if you forget the import script. I had hundreds of dominos in a toy maze where the collision shapes included half spheres for every dot. Rather than replace them manually, I wrote a tool that swapped the collision shapes for simple boxes. Saved me hours

This is a really solid point. I'm curious to see how the price point of the new Switch 2 affects these metrics though. If the upgraded console is comparable in cost to a Steam Deck or one of their competitors, I think Little Timmy might be getting a Steam powered device from Best Buy next

With all that being said, I'm still not a big Apple fan, and I would rather use a Linux computer and an Android phone any day, but I'm definitely a lot more open to developing for Apple devices if a client asked me to now

3. UI has become easier than ever with the advent of SwiftUI. It's clean and intuitive, as opposed to legacy CocoaPods with XML setups that I first learned how to use before Swift existed

2. Working with Swift applications is easier than ever before. Code completion is powered by AI that works really well, so I'll be typing a line, and that whole section will be auto-completed for me. I'm not in favor of AI's doing all the work, but this seems like a very nice middle ground

So I've been getting back into iOS dev for a client lately, and I have a few thoughts:

1. I still hate that I have to swap to a Mac to develop Swift apps, but I'm using a Mac Mini with an M4 processor I got for $400 and it works flawlessly. You don't need to buy a super expensive computer anymore

Am I great at art? No. Is this still a fox? Yeah, I'd say so.

I get that JSON files and dictionaries are easy to understand, but you'd be better off creating a class that extends Resource and creating .tres files. It's more secure and gives you a fully defined data structure to work with

For all the hype that people seem to have about the Switch 2, I've seen nothing so far that makes me want to publish a game to their library or buy a new console. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like console gaming is a dying era where PC gaming is only growing

Well folks, I've started down the rabbit hole for Playdate development. I got a couple simple 2d Lua projects, and a couple simple 3D C projects building and running in the simulator today.

It's only a matter of time before we get chickens doing some nonsense on this platform!!!
