I have not but that looks sick! Definitely the kind of thing I would be into. Have you played it?

I think most if not all personality typing is bullshit, except for the Enneagram which is 100% true

I just rolled mine 100 times to make sure each result is roughly as likely as the others but that sounds much easier

Sweet and salty-savory is a classic flavor pairing; no reason pineapple on pizza should be controversial

I've run a handful of modules in the past but mostly prepare my own stuff. Almost exclusively run BX with some house rules but I play in an OD&D open table from time to time.

Big fan of The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath and Nyarlathotep

I vary between meathead warriors and maniacal spell casters. Either way though I'm usually the person messing around with stuff to see what happens.

Ah well that sucks. I was going back and forth between playing it straight for the true ~Xyntilan experience~ or hacking it apart and using the best ideas for another dungeon so now definitely leaning toward the latter.

How are you liking it? I'm planning to run Xyntillan for an open table sometime in the new year

@coral-wave.bsky.social What's a D&D adventure you've always wanted to run but haven't yet?

@sector14.bsky.social aside from the ones you've been posting do you have a favorite non-D&D book to harvest ideas from?

@robroys.bsky.social What's your favorite thing about Alaska?

13.12.2024 21:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Probably The Maze of Nuromen. Tight, no BS adventure. Not sure it can get done in one session but great for new GMs and players alike. Could use some more flavor but imo that's an asset: it encourages new GMs to add their own stylistic elements and dress the module up as they see fit

Brooooo I was going back and forth between El Topo and No Country. Terrific, terrifying movie. I'm due for a re-watch.

Banger list btw you and I have similar taste

This might be a little old school but after character creation I usually just start the players right outside a dungeon and tell them their goal is to get as much treasure as they can and make it out alive. That's usually good enough.

It's not! But I do love Chainsaw Man. Handle is a reference to Swords and Deviltry, the first volume of the Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser series

Great question
1. No Country for Old Men
2. Scanners/Videodrome double feature (cheating ik)
3. Mulholland Drive
4. Rushmore
5. Akira if I'm being honest but mostly as a stand-in for '80s sci-fi horror OVAs.

Now gimme yours

It's as much a research project as it is a novel but it's well worth the effort imo. Gotta hand it to the mfa lit bros on this one

Those who don't participate may find the narrative "unfinished" or "confused," unaware that they were given all the hints necessary to complete the work themselves.

Instead of being relegated to the role of audience, the reader/viewer is instead challenged to integrate the clues themselves and fill in the missing pieces to see the story through to its resolution.

08.12.2024 22:53 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Pale Fire, Mulholland Drive, and Infinite Jest all belong to a genre of fiction that depicts narrative as a puzzle. Each work is comprised of clues to a larger whole that exists beyond the immediate purview of the text.
