There’s always compromises. There’s a billion reasons behind every decision, not always as purely artistic as we’d all like.

There are more writers than there are parts too.

Complaining when you’re disappointed, especially publicly, isn’t the greatest idea if what you really want is to be cast (programmed) in future.

Whichever method is used, it’s not a reflection on you or your work. It’s an imperfect, subjective process.

Actors know that not getting a part is more common than getting a part.

Sometimes casting agents (publishers) are asked to put forward people they think are best suited for the specific job in hand (pitches). Sometimes the director already knows exactly who they want to cast and goes directly to those people.

Writer friends, most of you know literature festivals are programmed like films/plays are cast.

Sometimes there are open auditions (submissions).
