At the 25yr reunion for my college, which offers a variety of engineering degrees, I learned:
to a first order, anyone that didn't study CS or EE--about 75% of the class (mech, civil, bio, chem...)--is now shuffling money.
What a waste of talent!

3/ When two entities are competing for the same space, the bigger entity wins. Pedestrian < cycle < motorcycle/scooter < car < bus. For entities of the same size, ties are broken with a game of chicken.

2/ You move by iteratively occupying space in the general direction of your destination. The only constraint is law #1 (do not occupy the space of another entity). Road signs and traffic lights are merely suggestions, and lane markings are purely cosmetic.

1/ Occupancy is paramount. If you are occupy a space, it is yours. It is now up to all others to not bump into you, no matter how unreasonable your occupancy (e.g., a car going in the opposite direction on a one-way street or a pedestrian in the middle of a 6-lane highway).

Every complex system has emergent behavior that cannot be explained via the properties of its components. Delhi traffic is no different.
If have you trouble making sense of it, here are 3 emergent laws of Delhi traffic.

In a good book-reading year for me, the two best ones:
The Fabric of Reality: Lovely synthesis of 4 scientific theories. Bonus: CS is placed alongside physics, evolution.
Why Machines Learn: Quite a readable history of ML with just the right amount of math (but weak puns)

6 yo was taught in school that "Thanksgiving is a myth." The reality is that "white Europeans killed indigenous people."
I told him that his mother is a white European. We spent the next 10 minutes him trying to wiggle out of that box, finding creative ways to not blame her.
