The copy on the ad reads as if the tracks are fresh. “Yes, a bear has been through here (on the back of a small bird).” And it’s not too dissimilar to actual bird tracks in the sand. I think it’s the lighting on the ad that gives it a “Jurassic Park” feel even though it’s not meant to be a fossil

...otherwise there'd be some legal record of Sega suing DiC. Right? That scan is of a draft of a legal filing, which means it wasn't finalized. Hadn't been submitted. Hadn't done whatever they do with those sort of things.

I don't think Ian would be privy to the conversations SEGA and DiC had regarding the animation cells, as he was a child at the time. The show had been cancelled for over a decade by the time he joined the comic book.
