When states like Colorado passed policies requiring employers to disclose salary information in job postings, what happened?

It increased competition, and raised wages, without harming employment or changing skill requirements.

Improved functioning of markets, helped workers.

This figure presents binned scatterplots of B/P and cumulative future stock returns from the regressions in Panels A and B of Table 3, with both variables residualized on the control variables and fixed effects (firm and quarter).

This figure presents binned scatterplots of B/P and cumulative future stock returns from the regressions in Panels A and B of Table 3, with both variables residualized on the control variables and fixed effects (firm and quarter).

This study finds that passive ownership has weakened the traditional positive relationship between book-to-price ratios & future #stockreturns, known as the value effect.

In an interesting turn of events, US and Danish government came up with the same to help with the affordability crisis: longer mortgages!

That has sparked some backlash. But in the US, it seems the discussion is focusing on the wrong stuff.

Well, let’s try to learn from πŸ‡©πŸ‡°.

This graph shows the evolution of physical yields (tons of output per hectare) for three crops in Brazil, using data from the Brazilian Census of Agriculture (1950 to 2017). Each dot indicates a separate observation. In each panel, the yield in 1970 is normalised to one. Data for soybeans are not available before 1970.

It is often argued that returns to R&D are low in developing countries, making imported technologies a better path to growth. Yet technologies designed for frontier nations may not fit local conditions, limiting their productivity gains. This column studies Brazil’s Embrapa, a large public R&D effort to create agricultural innovation suited to Brazil’s ecology. Embrapa shifted research toward local needs and raised agricultural productivity by 110%, far outweighing its costs. Sustained, locally targeted R&D can be a key part of development policy.

I am very excited to have received 5.6 million Danish kroner from the Danmarks Frie Forskningsfond to investigate the role of teachers for students with mental, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental disorders under the theme "learning and well-being in primary schools".

This new QJE paper finds: excessive mobile app use among the youth is contagious and costly. Roommates’ app use boosts your own. Heavy app users get lower Grade Point Averages, earn less, sleep less, skip more class. Extending gaming limits to college students could raise wages.
