I didn’t imagine we’d be fighting this hard in 2025 to protect our nation and the world from tyranny. But here we are. In the long lineage of civil rights marches, today is the PEOPLE’S MARCH across this country. I offer a tanka and a paraphrase of great wisdom I heard Holly Near say last night.

Watching the Southern CA wildfires from the other end of my beloved state, I remember those orange skies and how it felt like we’d never see blue again. What a gift to have crystal clear blue skies in Northern CA today. There is hope, my SoCal friends. I grieve with you and stand with you.
