A review written by PhD candidate (when he was still a Msc student...) @stevendegoede.bsky.social on fungal induced soil aggregation mechanisms and its effects on soil C stocks. Publishing this was a long process, but hope this is helpful for all (especially early careers)!

Plenty of people still heading out to #EGU25 at 8:30 on the last day, but the crowd certainly is getting sleepier.

Soon one of my favourite sessions will start on mycorrhizal fungi in forest ecosystems πŸŒ²πŸ„πŸŒ³

After that, it will be time for a little holiday πŸ˜„πŸ₯³

Please join and stay, room not packed yet, but wouldn't be surprised if it would happen 😬

We recommend to refrain from fertilizing pine-dominated stands on low-productive soils or in regions with cold climates and spruce-dominated stands on low- and high-productive soils. In our dataset, this means that 17% of the fertilized pine-dominated stands should not have been fertilized. (5/5)

New job, new platform! ✨ A month ago I started as a postdoc at Uni Potsdam, part of CRC1644 "Phenotypic plasticity in plants". It was a warm welcome in the BioDiv group of Prof Anja LindstÀter

I am beyond happy to continue my interdisciplinary research (and to live in such a beautiful new place!)

Why Fungi Could Get Higher Conservation Status And Why It Matters The UK and Chile are proposing at the UN’s biodiversity conference COP16 in Colombia that fungi receive the same status to animals and plants. This could help foster and funding research.

Our first Bluesky post contains some good news for #fungi! After a long history of being unprotected, COP16 marked a huge advancement in the conservation of fungi. πŸ„πŸ₯³

Thanks to work led by our partners at Fungi Foundation, The Fungal Conservation Pledge was introduced at #COP16. bit.ly/3Vl9GHL
