The guy I'm renting my room from is super abusive to his partner, yells at her constantly. It reminds me of all the angry people at the shelter. It reminds me of my parents getting divorced when I was 4. I can't escape.

I feel so broken. I'm tired of living like this. I spent all of last year in a state of panic. I never felt safe at the shelter. I've always been sensitive to distraction but it's gotten worse.

This doesn’t surprise me, and tracks with my experience driving for one of these apps. It was extremely stressful for almost no pay. My desperation score was probably sky-high.

Gonna try to join you on this! I was pretty good at regular walking in 2025. This year I need to add in some strength. Pushups sound like a good start!

I think I’m going to try to contact one of the limited-stay, program-based shelters in the area tomorrow. I need more stability. I’m barely hanging on right now. Wish me luck.

The local library is still closed, which is compounding the situation. I still don’t have anywhere to reliably charge my phone. I’m trying my hardest to get a job but more barriers keep popping up.

This man failed to maintain a safe environment, then when that inevitably caused harm, he responds with collective punishment. This is the same man who oversaw the inadequate access to water I wrote about last summer.

Now I’ll have to park on the street, drastically increasing my chance of getting towed (my tags are expired), or having my car broken into overnight.

There was a fight involving a weapon at the smoking section last night. In response, the man in charge of the shelter shut that area down permanently, and also the parking lot adjacent to it. It’s where I parked my car all last year.

A year ago I went to sleep for the last time in a room by myself. Tonight I’ll be sleeping in the presence of about 30 other strangers, as I have for all of 2025. None of us should have to live like this. Next year I’m determined to get out of here. Then, revenge. #homelesslife
