Perfect timing for this trend to give a sneak peek at Porta Nubis' upcoming art style upgrade πŸ‘€πŸŽ¨

Always fun to look back at where it started and how far it’s come!

Porta Nubi is popping up in more and more sections of the Vision App Store across several countriesπŸš€

Seeing it in categories like "The Best Games for Apple Vision Pro" and next to great games like Blackbox is simply amazing πŸ₯Ή

Porta Nubi is getting more and more reviews, and it’s so rewarding to see I’ve reached my goal of creating a fun spatial experience πŸ•ΉοΈ

It’s incredibly motivating to keep building for visionOS πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»

Finally got around to playing Porta Nubi and wow. It is the best native game on visionOS I have played! Superb design and puzzles ☁️, highly recommended. Awesome work @michaeltemper.bsky.social !

Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn 🍽️

And for things to do, Salzburg itself is quite beautiful to just walk through, but if you have a car, there is also a salt mine close by (20 min) where you can make a tour or Hallstatt (1h) which looks really great and is a quite well known place, have fun! πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή

It's insane how much interaction you get with a single line of code in visionOS 26 🀌

It's now possible to show entities outside of a volume's scene bounds in visionOS by adjusting the clipping margins.

These entities are non-interactive and only work with volumes, but they’re still great for decorative effects. ☁

Good to know that I was not the only one with that - felt a bit like a summary of the features they mentioned in the keynote / state of the union.

I actually prefer the one to one labs where you really dig into your questions together

In visionOS 26 mixed immersion style apps can now coexist in Apple environments.

Even reflections and lightings blend perfectly over into the environment ✨

By using Systems and Components I can finally focus on the fun part:

Being creative by crafting levels πŸ”¨

I can use Reality Composer Pro as my level editor, put my pieces together like I want and the rest works out of the box πŸͺ„

Spoiler Alert for level solution at the end βš οΈπŸ‘€

Can you beat all levels using just VoiceOver?

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, therefore, all images in Ploppy Pairs are invisible for a few days. Try playing with VoiceOver only and experience the game in a new way

You know how I love to celebrate milestones. Today is a big one. I just published my 200th post on Step Into Vision πŸŽ‰

My goal is to create the best resource for #visionOS developers. I have a lot of work to do, but I'm well on my way!

I also used some shader logic and a helpful debug panel from github.com/ynagatomo for this example - I can highly recommend to check out his work. A great resource to learn about visionOS!

Just uploaded the example of my visionOS workshop from last week! πŸš€

It will introduce you to Reality Composer Pro 🎨, the Entity Component System βš™οΈ, and show how SwiftUI ties it all together.🧩

Hope you can learn something new! πŸ“šπŸ”¬βœ¨

Yeah a bit annoying, also, if you show multiple portals, some of them glitch out and you can’t see them only when moving around - that’s why I set a fixed width for my view to always only show 5-6. If you find a fix for that please let me know haha πŸ˜…

Lastly a performance tip: Double check if you could use static colliders instead of dynamic ones. This can have quite an impact on the performance of your app - especially when scaling models down, it always started lagging for me. But only use them if your models are really only static.

Subdivision Surfaces only seem to work in Reality Composer Pro, but not in the app currently, FB16930958. If I am just doing something wrong here maybe, please just let me know!

When using an Immersive Space + windows / volumes, the very last closed window / volume does not get dismissed correctly, leading to memory leaks -> Listen to scenePhase == .background INSIDE your view and call dismissWindow(id: β€žyour-idβ€œ), FB16930604

19.03.2025 20:24 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Today, to hopefully save other developers some time, some bugs / workarounds I found over the last days in visionOS.

When using a RealityView inside a LazyHGrid, the window / volume does not get dismissed correctly, leading to memory leaks -> use HStack instead, FB16930710.

Thanks! Yes they are all portals - the top one has a texture on it and the lower ones simple materials, that’s kinda the only difference

Custom hover effects in visionOS keep the UI clean and minimal while seamlessly revealing extra details when needed.

A perfect balance of simplicity and functionality! βš™
