No stream tonight, sadly. I'm learning I can't take sleep meds that might cause mood swings πŸ˜†πŸ˜¬ Might stream tomorrow instead - we'll see.

IF YOU DONT LOCK IN AND WORK ON YOUR ARTISTIC ENDEAVORS, WHO WILL? NO ONE! YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK. YOU GOTTA DO THAT SHIT!

Can we please stop with the "why aren't Americans doing anything" Discourse that I keep seeing? I'm not even talking about people in other countries. I'm talking about my fellow USians who I see every day On Here bemoaning how we aren't protesting.

1. PROTESTS ARE LITERALLY HAPPENING EVERY DAY.

Two panels of a comic. In the first a woman with a pen leans over a large screen showing the finely detailed eye of a rabbit and says β€˜Done! Now to see how it looks in the full composition’. In the second panel she leans back and zooms out on the screen, which now shows the eye on a rabbit.

The third and fourth panel of the comic. The third panel shows the same woman, still leaned back and zooming out on the screen. The rabbit is now nestled in a forest path. The fourth panel shows the image on the screen fully zoomed out with the rabbit a small part of a whole forest scene. The woman says β€˜Excellent. No time wasted here!’

I made a thing. For reasons…

Affirmation, mainly for myself: all the pathetic gutless evil bastards on this whole rotten earth would love nothing better if you just rolled over and died right now. Well, they’ve brought us in to the β€˜fuck you, make me’ era, so… fuck you, make me.

When I say that housing, healthcare, food, water, education, and bodily autonomy are human rights, I mean that no one has to prove worthiness, value, likability, or political belief to have them. I may want nothing to do with someone but I will always believe they deserve what will keep them alive.

Ink illustration of Frank from Go home Annie.

He is a monstrous elk with its bottom jaw missing. Instead, a grossly oversized flap of skin an fur dangles, with numerous pointy teeth.

Can’t believe the knives are already out in the stores. The Ides of March gets more commercialized every year.

Something I wish I had learned sooner:

Draw/Paint the background before the characters.

Helps ground your character in the scene.

We cannot fix everything by fighting back, but we won't fix anything unless we try.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

I'm now streaming my art process regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-11pm CT! Feel free to join whenever the mood strikes you. It's designed to be a chill experience you can use for body doubling purposes. Listen to my music and occasional ramblings while you work, or just mute me altogether πŸ˜†

To mark this special occasion, I'm doing a Lord of the Rings-themed stream where I give gifts away hobbit-style for my birthday. Every hour I'm gonna raffle off a piece of original art to YOU, my friends, simply as a thank you for being here. (US residents only, sadly)

Why do I want to livestream it? Because I could really use the company! After several years of burnout, making art has gotten kinda scary for me. Now I'm on a journey to recover the joy, and I'd rather do it with friends.

Yeah things are crazy rn. But I refuse to let current events distract me from what I love. That includes art, which in my case has been neglected far too long. So I'm saying "no more." From now on, I'm committing to a twice-weekly practice of sitting down, making art, and livestreaming the process.

A banner with an ornate decorative border. On the left is a photo of a smiling woman with brown curly hair. On the right is a hand-drawn portrait study of a woman wearing a crown of leaves. In the center, the image says: "You are invited to a Long-Expected Art Stream, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, 7:00pm Central." Below that is the link "twitch.tv/juliaharrison212"

Archive often and archive well. Preserve your memories, art and important information.

- save in multiple locations and formats because diversity = less risk
- use common formats (e.g png, txt, pdf)
- structure and label clearly
- use physical media if possible, print your art & photos!

A tree - possibly an ent - with legs, arms and an unusually large bellybutton.

Had to clamber over a barbed wire fence, rip my coat and trespass to get a photo of this folkloric monster pretending half-successfully to be a tree. I have no regrets.

If they threaten you with arrest for trying to access a site you are lawfully entitled to access, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING ARREST YOU.

YOU MAKE THEM SLAP THE CUFFS ON A CONGRESSMAN LIVE ON TV, YOU MAKE THEM FUCKING DO IT.

The scale of the intrusion into individuals’ privacy is massive and unprecedented. Millions of people cannot avoid engaging in financial transactions with the federal government and, therefore, cannot avoid having their sensitive personal and financial information maintained in government records. Secretary Bessent’s action granting DOGE-affiliated individuals full, continuous, and ongoing access to that information for an unspecified period of time means that retirees, taxpayers, federal employees, companies, and other individuals from all walks of life have no assurance that their information will receive the protection that federal law affords. And because Defendants’ actions and decisions are shrouded in secrecy, individuals will not have even basic information about what personal or financial information that Defendants are sharing with outside parties or how their information is being used.

It is at this time that I would like to remind everyone that enshrining workers' rights was the compromise to dragging the boss out of his office and breaking all his bones before throwing him into the sea
