This "Get back to fighting united" garbage wouldn't be said by anyone who was actually upset about this, anyone who actually wanted to fight. This is the rhetoric of a weasel who is trying to get people to stop criticizing their betrayal by implying that the critics are the real problem, not them.

This is what Schumer was talking about when he said they were close to a deal to reopen the government: it wasn't a deal with Republicans, it was a deal among Democrats on who would be the ones to be the ones on record voting with the Republicans.

More Dems WANTED to side with the Republicans, but they know it's bad for them electorally, so they coordinated to make sure that they could avoid openly supporting it while using convenient scapegoats who aren't facing election anytime soon to take the heat for them.

It's like how a few Republican legislators in unsafe seats keep being a no vote on bills that just barely pass by one or two votes. In their case, they are coordinating so that they can appear not to support it while making sure it passes. The Dems are similarly coordinating blame on safe targets.

Threads like this, where people who voted "no" are acting like it's a betrayal of unity to criticize those who voted in favor of this bullshit, are an excellent indication that they made a deal behind the scenes for Dems who are going to retire to take the fall for what more of them wanted.

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.

Wealthy white Americans create food deserts in poor communities where no one can access a grocery store. Create a country where only the wealthy can afford fresh vegetables. And then create “health” trends where anyone that doesn’t eat “clean” is judged as a lesser human.

They definitely got reimbursed for travel, at least to some degree, so that was probably part of it.

Oh the entire economy and politics of the State was based around not having a sales tax and selling big purchases, alcohol, tobacco, and fireworks (which were largely unregulated) everywhere on the borders with other states to attract out of state money. We called it "The New Hampshire Advantage".

My ultimate New Hampshire story is when I listened to two people have a heated debate about whether we should build a new High School, and neither party even mentioned if we need it for the students, it was ENTIRELY based on "I don't want to pay taxes" vs "It'll raise our property values".

I grew up in New Hampshire, which is the ultimate example of this. The legislators get paid $100. That's not per week, or per month, that's their ANNUAL salary (with some minor stipends). This is because their salary was set by the state constitution, so changing it requires constitutional amendment
