The Wallflower is an independently published magazine by and for queer people. We reserve the right to make everyone feel welcome here. We quietly protest and find joy in the little things in life. https://www.patreon.com/TheWallflowerMagazine?utm_medium=
It's time to gear up for our first issue! We'll be offering it in digital format at the end of this year. What does the holidays mean for people on the margins? Submissions guidelines are on our website.

13.09.2025 15:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Gay bars have always been promoted as safe spaces for the queer community. However, there is a distinct lack of spaces for fem-presenting queer individuals. These are just two of the bars that are specifically for women and fem-presenting people on each coast. Check them out!

17.08.2025 17:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The animal of the day are chameleons. These creatures blend into their surroundings much like many minority communities feel the need to do. They are primarily found in Africa, Madagascar, Southern Europe, and Asia. They use their colors for reasons other than camouflage.
13.08.2025 17:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hey! Don't forget to check out Marilyn Damord's article on our website! (Link in bio) its free and an interesting take on houseplants. ππ€£

The slang Sunday term of the week is Queer-baiting. An annoying trend in media where a show, movie, etc. foreshadows a queer character just for them to end up being cis/straight despite other instances where it's implied heavily or almost directly stated that they are some level of queer.
10.08.2025 17:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Did you relate to barbie? Did it help you feel more comfortable in who you are? You may relate to our article coming out today by Bethany Lang called "I came out at 37...Thanks barbie!" This is a fun article so be sure to check it out on our patreon.
09.08.2025 12:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Be sure to submit to the Wallflower Magazine! We are still accepting submissions for all columns (details in bio) and are excited to get your voices out! We here at the Wallflower do our best to make unheard voices louder.
08.08.2025 18:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This week we have the axolotl! A critically endangered yet adorable species native to only Lake Xochimilco and its surrounding wetlands, near Mexico City. There used to be more lakes inhabited but pollution and other environmental changes have almost wiped them out.

The word of this slang Sunday is Drag-King. Here at the Wallflower we accept all drag royalty but some don't know about the awesome other side of the drag coin. These Kings work hard to perform and entertain so don't forget to tip!

The animal of the week is a lion. These cats can be seen in same-sex relationships as well. The lion has recently been used as a representation of the entire LGBTQ community though most people still prefer choosing an animal for their specific identity if they want too. They have PRIDE.
#lions#pride
A stone butch is a butch who enjoys to give and not receive in a sexual relationship. A butch is a masculine presenting queer person. This term is most often used in the lesbian community but can be adapted for other subcultures under the LGBTQ umbrella.

This Wednesday we want to highlight another endangered species we all love: the Bees! These little guys are often associated with the nonbinary community. They are one of the biggest supporters of the environment.

Slang Sunday Strikes Again! The word? Egg! An egg is a trans person in denial OR someone who is currently questioning their gender. Not all nonbinary people consider themselves trans but this term is very well known in the community. Remember to always be respectful of these terms and their uses.π π
20.07.2025 17:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The animal of the week? PENGUINS! These little creatures are often seen in same-sex relationships. These little guys are being badly affected by climate change and are losing ground. Please remember global warming is being caused by major companies and not purely the individual.π
16.07.2025 17:03 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Our creator has made a post about what it means to be quietly proud and why they decided to start this magazine. Please take the time to check it out on our patreon. We hope it inspires you just as it has inspired those of us working on this project.

Hey guys! Don't forget to submit, like, share, and comment! We are working hard here at the Wallflower to deliver interesting content to everyone but we need everyone's help getting this off the ground.

What time is it? SUNDAY SLANG TIME! Our word is comphet! This is shorthand to say compulsive heterosexuality. This is what happens when you're raised in a hetero-focused society. It comes from the idea that you should have sex with the opposite gender before realizing you're lgbtq.
13.07.2025 15:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0βElsewhereβ by Jagger van Vliet is coming out today on our Patreon! If you're still want to read and support us, the articles are also going to be posted for free on the website. (link in bio). Please be sure to check out these pieces as they come out!

The animal of the week are seahorses! These tiny creatures have a unique way of having kids where the men carry the eggs. Just like some humans! They also come in a variety of colors! These little guys are much tinier than you'd think!

the phrase "friend of Dorothy" historically signaled someone was gay, used subtly for safety. While discretion is still needed in some contexts, it's less critical today. #Dorothy #LGBT #Subtle #Pride #magazine #patreon #wallflower #slangsunday
