I fell into my sewing group via a neighbor. It meets at the West Seattle Senior Center. There are a lot of groups here in Washington state, so you should be able to find something close to you. Ask at a quilt show, or at the sewing expo in Puyallup (in February or March I believe).

Wow! Great piece. Thanks for sharing. I only truly started quilting a few years ago. Almost everything goes to several charity groups our sewing group supports. But I will be hanging on to my tie quilt. 😉

Thank you. It's always a bummer to hear that someone clears out the clothes so quickly. A friend's mom passed and I offered to make a quilt out of a few of her shirts. But he went over to her house 4 days later only to find that the sister sent everything to Goodwill almost immediately. Sad.

A friend encouraged me to enter a quilt in the Puyallup Fair. I decided to submit "Dot's My Tie" made from cutting up 3 of my dress shirts and sewing circles cut from 140 ties. They must have thought I did okay because when we found it at the fair yesterday, it had a 3rd place ribbon attached!

A comfortable life used to be the American Dream. Not being a financial mogul. Not fighting for the top spot on the food chain. Working to get your share of the pie with the whip cream on top. Grabbing enough food to fill your plate, but leaving plenty on the table for others. Let’s do that again.

That's great! I will check into it. I am retired and spend my "free time" doing litter pickups in the neighborhood and sewing quilts for a number of charity groups. Life is good. Glad to hear that you are so involved with what your kids do. There needs to be a LOT more of that in this country.
