My wife and I are upper middle class. We have about a month's worth of food stored. Then we help a neighbor, our children or have a bump in the road and start over. Before COVID we had six months worth stored. I can't imagine how any family making less than 100k a year survives.

I maintain that every one of these people should be forced to live on SNAP for a month.

My wife and I are hitting $1600 a month for food. $4200 sounds like a lot of money until you go shopping. We live frugally and eat take out two to four times a month. The cheapest ground beef in my town is $6.50/lb. Eating is expensive.

I bet we could fix our whole government if people would scrutinize lawmakers the way they do public schools.

Our alternative school started this and saw an increase in attendance. This led my district to do it in all schools. Elementary teachers were initially upset until they realized that precocious puberty existed and the kids didn't play with them.

I was 30 when I went to college. I should have done many things differently in my life prior to that according to others. My journey made me who I am today. I honor that journey and pray you honor your journey as well. Perfection is the enemy of complete. Shoulds only exists to demoralize.

Is the school lunch program in danger as well?

As a diabetic I limit my sugar intake. I'm getting ready to make a cake worthy of the calories and carbs. I've decided on a caramel apple upside down cake with a layer of caramel mousse. Now I'm torn whether or not to switch to a chocolate caramel mousse cake.

The only way to improve upon that beautiful sight is to add crostinis, cambazola, fresh basil and grapes.

My first year's harvest. I haven't had a crop that big since then. We also had 20 x 80 foot corn that did well. That wouldn't keep my family fed. We harvested them because it froze outside. That was Oct 15th.
