I agree that our translations collide with Nii sensei's statement, but I believe that they were accurate with respect to the language and terms used, and if anything, it shows how gender identity is nuanced in a country like japan and with a language that is not genderized as the italian language!

it happens in the italian translation too! but I think it's a very nuanced topic, in japanese tsubaki is never referred to with either male or female pronouns (people use either tsubaki or "that person") and uses atashi (that is not exclusively female but is generally not used by boys)

A preview of "Everything We Didn't Say", a fanfiction written by Aji, whose pen name is sherlyblossom, set in the Shadowhunters world and focused on Kunigami Rensuke and Chigiri Hyouma. The fanfiction will be available in the free and downloadable "High in the Tower" zine, available on November 23. The preview recites: "Rensuke cleared his throat. It wasn’t the ideal situation for a friendly reunion - actually, he feared there would never be a friendly encounter between the three of them, after what happened during their last year at the Academy - but he didn’t want to attend a brawl in the very inside of the Institute. Reo had an extremely short fuse, and if Chigiri hadn’t changed much in those years, he would gladly follow in a fight. “I think we can put aside our personal feelings for a little while. The city is in danger if these attacks become regular stuff.” Chigiri glared at him. “You of all people talk about putting feelings aside. Of course. Fuck me, I’m done here.”"
