Text: At our school, the majority of our students aren’t potty trained. While our potty training course is mandatory, the failure rate is high and almost everyone is in pull-ups or diapers to deal with inevitable accidents. There’s too many diapers to change even for our skilled professional faculty, nurses, and nannies to deal with. Changing your own diapers is difficult or even impossible, just forgetting how to even undo the tapes. It happens to the best of us, even if you’ve just had a diaper-change lesson. That’s why the change buddy system was invented. Your change buddy is your go-to whenever you notice your diaper is full. Or maybe someone else said “You’ve got stinky pants!

Text: Every floor has clearly marked gender-neutral single- or group- occupancy change rooms with running water, tables, wipes, supplies, a pail, fresh diapers, and everything you need. Call your change buddy and they’ll get you all cleaned up in no time. Or, if you’re the one doing the change, then just take your soggy friend into the closest change facility or to the mat at the back of the class. Many students have preferred brands of diapers and will carry them in their knapsacks, but in a pinch you can use the supplied ones. If both of you and the teacher says it’s okay, you can even use the front change table for a quick lesson to show other students. It’s always good to get a refresher course. How to actually change a diaper is covered in the daily lessons. Remember to put used diapers only in the marked containers.

Each pager is paired to one other - you can get them from your teacher. Text: Finding a Change Buddy It’s best to have a change buddy in your classroom, for easy reach. It should be someone you get along with, but it’s not like finding a date for the prom. Expect to have several change buddies in different classes. Some students will wear name tags that also have the name of their change buddy. If it’s blank, the teacher can help you find someone, or a temp buddy. Change buddy selection happens at the start of a semester, or starting a new class. Change buddies are usually pairs of students but it can work with 3, 4 or more students together. If you have any questions about the change buddy system, just ask any teacher or staff member. A clean diaper is a happy diaper!
