The Relentless Lark Volume One — Weekend Warrior Comics An urban vigilante goes on a genre-hopping tour of her hometown to hunt down the copycat impersonating her superhero father in the first volume of this superhero comic.

Who is The Lark? No one truly knows. Not even his own daughter.

But when the hero disappears, Jane is going to learn a lot more about her father than she bargained for as she dons his cape and colors.

This is a 100-page TPB collecting four issues with additional, new material.

I'm a simple man and if I have to choose, I am usually going to cook some combination of Lions Mane mushrooms, caramelized onions, roast vegetables, sautéed baby red potatoes, rice, or a cheeseburger.

One of the simple joys in a relationship is when someone sends you a viral video of someone cooking and asks you to make that for dinner. I simply love not to have to choose what I'm cooking because I have, like, three defaults.

I finished my Blue Lions playthrough last week and was somewhat disappointed. Dimitri's arc just doesn't land as well in practice as it does in theory, and I am poisoned by the other playthroughs making this one feel absent of key developments.

Watching Valentine's Day with Jackie. I hate when successful people with interesting careers in a movie are younger than me.

One of the great examples of a show where the writers had no idea how to pace a season so they burn through YEARS worth of storylines in 18 episodes and deliver fun, breakneck television.

A 5-panel comic drawn in pen with inkwash shading and some copic marker coloring. Panels 1 and 2 are equal in size and on the same row. Panel 1 shows me tuning my acoustic guitar as a bandmate says from off-panel, "Can't practice next week, I'll be in Denver." My speech bubble in response says "Ah, cool! Say hi to Blucifer for me." Panel 2 shows me at my desk at my side job, my laptop open in front of me and a calendar on the wall behind me. I'm balancing my phone between my shoulder and ear, and the voice over the phone says "I'd love to help out, but I'm in Denver for a few days." I'm responding "Hah, look out for Blucifer! - lol-" Panel 3 is a backsplash drawing of a bright blue stallion standing on its hind legs with glowing red eyes; there's a big title caption written in cursive that says "Blucifer (nickname)" followed by 3 bulleted captions that say: "Huge fiber-glass statue of a mustang at Denver airport," "so scary to look at," and "Accidentally killed its sculptor (Luis Jiménez) when part of it tragically fell on him." Panels 4 and 5 are smaller inset panel stacked vertically and placed to the right over the backsplash panel. Panel 4 shows me looking thoughtful, with thought bubbles that say "Hmmm... do I... really..." Panel 5 continues with me looking thoughtful, but closer zoomed in and with my hands in a steeply shape in front of my chin. My thought bubbles say "not know ANYTHING else... about Denver..." There is a small afterthought that says "(yes.)" Beneath the comic is my signature (Kat Baumann), today's date (8-1-2025) and the time i spent drawing this (50 minutes)

Day 213: wherein I don't know shit about Denver, CO

The Superman movie put me in the mood to pick-up some of his titles again, and I was pretty wowed by Sina Grace's Superman: Harvests of Youth for being a pretty earnest YA comic about teen boy radicalization.

In terms of a Top 5 (not counting Fantastic Four due to recency bias) that absolutely no one else would agree with:

1. Endgame
2. Thunderbolts
3. Black Widow
4. Iron Man 3
5. Doctor Strange

Re-watched Black Widow as a lead-in to running Thunderbolts back. Still one of the better Marvel flicks. Tonal inconsistencies derail the train hard at points, but it has much higher aspirations and execution than the lot of them.

A true stroke of genius that Alan himself is a stupid man and a shitty writer but, damn, does that boy know structure

Nobel Prize for Donkey Kong Bananza

This 100-page paperback is going to be printed with a nice matte finish for the cover.

It collects and connects the four b/w issues with a new prologue and an interlude to create a cohesive "graphic novel" experience. We even have an extra comic strip from our letterer Jodie Troutman.

Plus, it activates the readership to engage with it more knowingly and squirm in their seat.

We just saw Fantastic Four, and Jackie expressed terror at the idea of "having" to watch a new Avengers movie to see her good friends the Fantastic Four again.
