At times IG’s the place where ADs look for artists and for sure it’s the place for maybe widest (possible, not easy) reach, so it feels “necessary”…but it’s also most aggressively selling oriented. This just confirms they want to turn it into one big marketplace

Certainly. I think speed develops naturally over time but constantly needing to rush it and doing sloppy work hurts the artist on the long run.
At times it can’t be helped, bills to pay etc, but it’s not sustainable

Some while ago there was random art advice thing circulating and today I thought what I’d add.
Take the time. Speed is not the most essential quality and is often to the detriment of the work.
I think this is very apparent in lot of vis dev and concept I see, bg art too. Needs more time to cook

Year of the horse

This year I also did plenty of lifedrawing, mostly from Zeet studio's cosplay sessions. It really helped me to get back on track both with drawing in sketchbook and with character drawing, and I enjoyed the challenge a lot.

Same. I also think resources are far more accessible now unlike writer claimed, imo getting specific advice isn’t real roadblock until artist has developed fair amount of skill by themselves.
There’s so much art and knowledge to learn from online & it’s always been the case of knowing how to search

At the moment I’m unable to take on commissions. I would love to though, I understand the loss and grief so well. Your kitty had a lovely name.
Maybe you can find artists who do pet commissions here if you search?

I just came across that article and despite growing up on dA, I didn’t find myself agreeing much with the overall points. Anything after establishing that social media is difficult & generally hoping for more niche spaces goes onto weird trajectory about big vs small artist which is silly

Drawing is done with acrylic ink and was coated with fixative to protect the paint.

I drew this bookmark for my partner, a little memento of our cat Remu who passed away earlier this year.
It also has a little maneki neko charm that I repainted to resemble him
